We've been gone
You may have noticed that we haven't updated our home page in a while. After our gig last October at Mo's Irish Pub West, we decided to take a break from music while we took care of other business, such as our day jobs. So that's why you haven't seen us performing lately. We reunited earlier in April for a surprise birthday party for Mike, but otherwise we're on an extended hiatus. For Brandon, that means taking a break from music for the first time in 13 years. Meanwhile, check out the Tap Milwaukee section of www.jsonline.com, where we've posted a couple of our songs on the rock playlist for local bands that the site features. There's also plenty of other good local music on the site, including great songs from Semi-Twang, Greg Koch, Steve Grimm, Jim Hoehn, the Twang Dragons and others. Once we catch up with our day-job work and get a music schedule together, we'll let you know. Thanks again for being a fan of the Brandon James Band!
Mo's Irish Pub West this Saturday!
The Brandon James Band returns to Mo's Irish Pub West, at the corner of Highway 100 and Blue Mound Road in Wauwatosa, for a gig this Saturday, Oct. 16, beginning at 9:30 p.m. This is our last scheduled show until the snow starts flying in December, so please join us for cool drinks and hot classic rock 'n' roll, along with our original music. Mo's offers great food and, if the weather cooperates, a nice patio. In addition, keep an eye on our Shows portion of this web page for more information on our two gigs in December, at the Bridge Inn in Grafton and at the Wells Street Tavern in Delafield.
Thanks, Gary
The Brandon James Band had the honor of playing at superfan Gary's 64th birthday party last weekend at Club Garibaldi. Gary and his family were great hosts, and we got a chance to jam with some fine musicians, including Gary, who sat in on rhythm guitar. Club Garibaldi has improved its hall, with a new stage and good sound system, and is ready to take its music venue to the next level. Thanks, Gary and Nancy, for hosting a rockin' party. Our next gig is Saturday, Oct. 16, at Mo's Irish Pub West. Hope to see you there.
Thanks, Bay View Bash, and new photos
The Brandon James Band ended its outdoor festival season - how about that, no rainouts! - with a performance Sept. 18 at the Bay View Bash. It was a beautiful night for music, the crowd was great and we wrapped up the evening with a few drinks at nearby Tonic. Bay View never looked our sounded so good. Our next gig is a private party this Sunday, followed by another appearance at Mo's Irish Pub West on Saturday, Oct. 16. Also, we've posted a new gallery of photos of our gig in August at the Sounds of Summer festival in Whitefish Bay. Enjoy!
Bay View Bash This Saturday
After completing a very successful and fun gig at Cali's in Brookfield - thanks to everyone who gave us a good-sized crowd last weekend - the Brandon James Band heads back to its own neighborhood for a gig from 6 to 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Bay View Bash. We'll be performing on the south stage, which is at the intersection of Clement and Kinnickinnic avenues on Milwaukee' south side. Our only problem: Trying to trim our four hours of tunes down to 1 1/2 hours. So we'll be cramming in our best songs, from the Allman Brothers to Eric Clapton to Bob Dylan along with a half-dozen original songs from our "Labor of Love" album and two new tunes that we hope to record soon. We also have the distinct pleasure of opening for Milwaukee's legendary Bad Boy, featuring our friends Steve Grimm, Scotty B. and the Bad Boy all-stars. It's shaping up to be a great night of entertainment. Our roots in the Bay View Bash go back to its origin in 2004 when a band that Mike, our bass player, was in called Hot Type played for free to help get the festival on its feet. It certainly was worth it to witness the birth of what is now a very popular Milwaukee street festival. Hope to see you there.
Returning to Cali's
The Brandon James Band will be returning to Cali's Grill Room, which is part of the Best Western Midway Hotel on Moorland Road just south of I-94 in Brookfield, this Saturday, Sept. 11, for a show that will begin around 9:30 p.m. Cali's is one of our most favorite places to play, mostly because the acoustics are so good there, and the crowd is so involved in the music. Our next gig will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Bay View Bash. This will be our last scheduled outdoor free concert of the year, so we hope to see you there.
New gig just added
The Brandon James Band will be returning to Mo's Irish Pub - West on Saturday, Oct. 16, beginning at 10 p.m. This will be our third time playing at Mo's this year, so thanks to Mo's management for inviting us back. If you've never been to Mo's West, it's at the corner of Highway 100 and Blue Mound Road in Wauwatosa and features a nice indoor dining area and bar, and an outdoor patio that is very popular. So check it out.
Labor Day, Labor of Love
The Brandon James Band hopes that everyone enjoys the Labor Day weekend, which honors the country's labor movement. And because our "Labor of Love" CD has seen a resurgence in sales this summer, we'd like to thank everyone for a great summer of following us as we embarked on our four-county 2010 tour. We have gigs coming up this month, Sept. 11 and 18, so check out our Upcoming Events blog for details.
Thanks, Sounds of Summer Street Festival
We had the privilege of opening for Milwaukee legend Paul Cebar last weekend at the eighth annual Sounds of Summer Street Festival in Whitefish Bay. After a brief downpour late in the afternoon, the skies cleared, the humidity disappeared and we had a great night for music. We'd like to thank all of our fans, new and old, for coming out to see us. We had a huge crowd listening to our original songs.
Two new gigs added
The Brandon James Band has added two new gigs to its 2010 summer lineup. The Band will be performing at Cali's Grill Room, located in the Best Western Midway Hotel at 1005 S. Moorland Road, Brookfield, on Saturday, Sept. 11, beginning at 9:30 p.m. We've performed there several times, and the room has great acoustics for rock 'n' roll music. We're looking forward to returning there to play. We'll also be performing on Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Bay View Bash, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., on the South Stage. This is a great neighborhood festival on S. Kinnickinnic Ave., and we have the pleasure of opening for the Bad Boy All-Stars, featuring our good friend Steve Grimm. If you enjoy classic and original rock 'n' roll, this is where you should be. This will be our last free outdoor festival of the year, so come out and say hi.
